Desserts from pantry staples only, no special ingredients
Fifteen of our recipes need nothing you would have to go looking for. Here they are, plus an honest list of the ones that genuinely do need…
Sweet treats that won't blow up your day.
A calorie count on a dessert is a division problem. Total the pan, divide by the number of servings the recipe claims, print the answer. The servings number is the only part anyone can change for free, so it is the part that moves when a headline needs to be smaller.
We size a serving at what somebody would actually stop at, and print the batch count next to the number. The black bean brownies below are 110 calories a square at 16 brownies from an 8x8 pan, which is a two-inch square. Cut that pan into twenty-four and we could publish a much better number without changing an ingredient.
It cuts the other way too. The Crumbl copycat here is 315 calories, because it is a large cookie and we did not quarter it to fix the label. Every recipe below tells you how many pieces the batch makes. The long version is in the serving-size trick.
