Privacy Policy

This is the honest version, because a privacy policy that nobody can read is its own kind of dishonesty. Here is everything.
The short version
If you sign up for the free recipe sampler or buy the cookbook, we have your email address. That is it. We use one privacy-first analytics tool that counts page views and tells us nothing about who you are. There are no tracking pixels, no advertising cookies, and in fact no cookies at all. We do not sell anything to anybody.
What we actually collect
Your email address, only if you give it to us. The sign-up form on this site asks for an email and optionally a first name. That goes to MailerLite, which is the service that stores our mailing list and sends the emails. We use it to send you the free sampler, occasional recipe emails, and your download if you buy the cookbook. Nothing else.
Payment information, which we never see. The cookbook is sold through Stripe. When you check out you are on Stripe's page, not ours, and your card details go to them directly. We receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded and the email address you used, so we can send you the book. We have never had access to a card number and we could not get one if we wanted to.
Anonymous page-view counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which tells us how many times a page was viewed, which site or search engine sent you here, and roughly what browser, device type and country you were in. That is the whole list. It sets no cookie, it uses no local storage, it stores no IP address, and it gives us no identifier for you at all. It genuinely cannot tell us whether the same person came back twice. We use it for one thing: working out which recipes and articles are worth writing more of.
Your IP address, briefly and automatically. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes the IP address of anyone who loads a page, and we use it for one specific thing: a rate limit on the sign-up form so it cannot be spammed. It is not stored in a database we keep, and it is not linked to your email address.
What we do not do
- No Google Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics instead, described above. It is the privacy-first option specifically because it identifies nobody, and we are not interested in the kind that does.
- No tracking pixels. No Facebook pixel, no Pinterest tag, no advertising network of any kind.
- No cookies. The site sets none. It does not use local storage either.
- No selling or sharing. Your email is never sold, rented, traded or handed to an advertiser.
- No third-party ads. There are none on the site and there are no plans for any.
The companies that hold data on our behalf
Three, and only three:
- MailerLite, which stores the mailing list and sends the email.
- Stripe, which processes payments.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site, serves the pages, and provides the page-view analytics.
Each has its own privacy policy, and each is a company we pay rather than one we are paid by.
If you buy through our Etsy shop instead, that purchase happens on Etsy and is covered by Etsy's privacy policy, not this one. We see the same thing any Etsy seller sees.
Getting your data out, or deleted
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately.
If you want your email address deleted entirely rather than just unsubscribed, or you want a copy of what we hold, email [email protected] and we will do it. There is no form and no process to go through. It is one person reading the inbox.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We are not going to quietly rewrite it and hope nobody notices.
