Mango Frozen Yogurt

Mango and yogurt is one of those combinations that barely needs help, the fruit is naturally sweet and a little tart, and the yogurt turns it creamy and tangy at the same time. It comes together like a tropical soft serve straight out of the food processor.

I like this one in the middle of summer when a scoop of something cold and fruity hits better than chocolate. A squeeze of lime keeps it from tasting one-note sweet, and the honey here is doing real sweetening work so this one leans whole-food rather than sugar-free.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Add the frozen mango, Greek yogurt, honey, lime juice, and salt to a food processor.
  2. Blend, stopping to scrape down the sides a few times, until the mixture goes from chunky to smooth, thick soft serve. This can take a few minutes, be patient with it.
  3. Taste and add a bit more honey if the mango isn't very sweet.
  4. Serve immediately for soft-serve texture, or transfer to a container and freeze 1 to 2 hours for a scoopable texture.

Tips & swaps

  • A food processor handles frozen fruit much better than most blenders, if using a blender you may need a splash of milk to get it moving.
  • Ripe, sweet mango means less added honey needed, taste your fruit before deciding how much to add.
  • Refreezes fine, just let it sit out 10 minutes to soften before scooping again.
